DJ Chicken remanded in Kirikiri prison over alleged threat against Seyi Tinubu

Controversial Nigerian content creator DJ Chicken has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos State over allegations that he threatened to kill Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.

The content creator was arraigned on Friday before a Magistrate Court sitting in Ogba, Lagos, on a three-count charge bordering on alleged violations of the Cybercrimes Act, breach of the peace, and making threats to kill.

The charges stem from a viral video in which DJ Chicken allegedly claimed that President Tinubu would not win re-election in 2027 and made threats against Seyi Tinubu.

Following the backlash, DJ Chicken retracted the statement, insisting it was a joke intended to gain popularity. Despite his apology, he was subsequently arrested and charged.

He pleaded not guilty to all three counts.

The court granted him ₦1 million bail with two sureties in like sum. One surety must be a civil servant, while the other must be a community leader with landed property in Lagos State.

The court also directed that the sureties provide three years' tax clearance, utility bills, their National Identification Number (NIN), and Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) registration. In addition, one of the sureties must be a blood relative of the defendant.

The case was adjourned until August 3, 2026, while the court ordered that DJ Chicken remain at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions.
